The Greater Portland Neighborhoods Coalition (GPNC) was founded in April 2003 to unify,  strengthen, elevate, encourage, and celebrate citizen participation that engages in building and maintaining vibrant neighborhoods. The GPNC mission is to provide a forum for residents, neighborhood associations, businesses, government and higher educational institutions to communicate, educate, and collaborate on common issues. The purpose of the annual statewide conference, Maine Neighborhoods: Building Strong Communities, is to empower residents as well as neighborhood leaders in their communities.
