GPNC Announces new website and Yahoo Group list serve
Mission: The Greater Portland Neighborhoods Coalition Coalition provides a forum for residents, neighborhood associations, businesses, government and educational institutions to exchange ideas, communicate, learn, and collaborate on common issues.
Background Information: The Greater Portland Neighborhoods Coalition (GPNC) was founded in April 2003 to unify, strengthen, encourage, and celebrate citizen participation and for the express purposes of convening forums on topics of common interest and concern, exchanging information and providing networking opportunities. GPNC’s educational events and forums are designed to empower residents and neighborhood leaders to build and maintain vibrant neighborhoods.
Here's What's Happening !
GPNC has a new calendar.
Starting this September 2006 GPNC will
host five two hour public forums. The first four will feature guest speakers
followed by group discussion and networking opportunities. Save the dates:
October 13th , December 8th , February 9th , April 13th . GPNC Annual Meeting
and Election will be held May 11th, 2007.
In addition, GPNC will host the 4th annual statewide conference, “Maine Neighborhoods: Building Strong Communities” “ 4th Annual Statewide Conference” on December 13, 2006 in Portland. To learn more about past GPNC conferences, open the conference information link
GPNC Steering Committee meeting are held four times a year. Save the dates: September 8th, November 10th, January 12th, and March 9th. If you are interested in serving on the GPNC steering committee please call Carol Schiller at (207) 772-3243 or email schiller@maine.rr.com. GPNC informational forums and steering committee meetings are held the second Friday of each month from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p. m. at the Greater Portland Council of Governments office located at 68 Marginal Way (fourth floor) in Portland. GPNC Neighborhood Forums are free and open to the public. No meetings are held June, July or August.

Neighborhood leaders, activist and neighborhood organizations have the opportunity to help structure and advance policy making in this time of unprecedented adjustment and change in our towns and cities. GPNC serves you by providing a forum to network, share concerns and ideas.
