Neighborhood Associations

The INDIA STREET NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION was incorporated, in early 2011 as a Maine nonprofit, to serve the diverse, mixed use neighborhood. We are driven to turn around a neighborhood that has been in recent decline. We seek to help residents and businesses by revitalizing the neighborhood while maintaining its historic uses and character. We will actively monitor development proposals and zoning and development guideline requirements. We will serve to keep the neighborhood informed and to work for the increased integrity of our historic area.

We will seek to work with the City to improve the state of our infrastructure and to alter the appearance of the empty lots and chain link fences caused by failed contract zoned proposals. The potential is great. The results will be also.

The City of Portland provides space on its website for neighborhood associations to post current events. Neighborhood associations are created and controlled by their members, not by the City. The City does not verify and is not responsible for the accuracy or content of the information that they post on the City’s website.
